PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid construction machine having an inverter the drive of which is stopped when a capacitor or a boosting converter causes a failure. SOLUTION: This hybrid construction machine includes an operation element driven by hydraulic pressure generated by the drive force of an internal combustion engine or an electric motor generator and an electrical operation element which is driven electrically. The construction machine further includes a capacitor system for supplying and receiving power between the electric motor generator and the electrical operation element, an abnormality detection part for detecting the abnormality of the capacitor system, and a main control part for controlling the electric motor generator and the electrical operation element.
