<p>PURPOSE: A residual stress improvement apparatus is provided to create compressive residual stress on the inner side of a different metal welding zone and a weld affected zone, thereby reducing the probability of primary cooling water stress corrosion cracking. CONSTITUTION: A residual stress improvement apparatus(100) comprises a body(110), a hydraulic cylinder(120), a pressing member(130), and a compression ring(140). The body comprises a pair of supporting members(112) and connecting members(114). A portion of the hydraulic cylinder is fixed to the bottom of the connecting members and selectively extended or contracted according to the application of hydraulic pressure. The pressing member is fixed to the bottom of the hydraulic cylinder. The compression ring surrounds a pipe(P), the target of plastic deformation, and presses the pipe according to the extension and contraction of the hydraulic cylinder.</p> |
