<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for sealing part formation of discharge tube that can form a sealing part having no corner part, and a method for sealing part formation. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a tool 32 for sealing part formation which has a press part 36 having a rectangular recessed place 42 formed in a tip surface 36a so as to have a vertical surface as its inner surface 42a of the rectangular recessed place 42 and a horizontal surface as its bottom surface 36c, a lower end of the inner surface 42a and the bottom surface 36c of the press part 36 being connected through an R shape 44. Lead terminals 20, 20 connected to discharge electrodes 14, 14 are held in parallel and inserted into a cylindrical glass tube 46 from its upper-end opening, the inner surface 42a of the rectangular recessed place 42 of the press part 36 is pressed against an upper-end surface of the glass tube 46 from the right and left of the glass tube 46 so that while the upper end of the glass tube 46 is heated and softened, the upper end of the glass tube 46 is arranged in rectangular recessed plates 42 of press parts 36 of a pair of tools 32, 32 for sealing part formation. The upper end of the glass tube 46 is pressed until tip surfaces 36a, 36b of press parts 36 of the tools 32, 32 for sealing part formation abut against each other, and the upper end of the glass tube 46 is crushed in the inner direction for airtight sealing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
