350,885. Vehicle door fastenings. EMBLEY, K. L., Danesdene, Tranby Avenue, Hessle, Hull. Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2595. [Class 44.] An automatically controlled fastening for railway &c. vehicle doors comprises a slidable bolt E mounted above the door and adapted to engage a striking plate H on the door D, the plate preferably being stepped so that the bolt may engage when the door is not quite closed. With the vehicle at rest, the bolt is held raised by a spring A actuating a lever F one end of which engages under a stud G on the bolt. When the vehicle is in motion a governor, not shown, driven from a vehicle axle, pulls a wire C attached to lever F, moving the lever so that the bolt is free to fall into engagement under gravity. |
