<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately determining the necessity for abnormality-responsive drive control to be executed when abnormality occurs in the physical condition of a driver, and to use the determination to accurately start the abnormality-responsive drive control. <P>SOLUTION: The method determines the necessity for the abnormality-responsive drive control, which is executed when abnormality occurs in the physical condition of the driver, based on a pressing force applied by the driver's body, wherein the determination for necessity is varied in accordance with characteristics of the attitude of the driver. The pressing force selected from three pressing forces, which are a pressing force applied by the back of the driver, a pressing force applied by the hip, and a pressing force applied by the left foot, is used.
