<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital relay capable of easily changing a transmission method from a single method to a duplication method. <P>SOLUTION: A digital relay comprises: a measurement circuit 9 which acquires an electric quantity from a power system 4 and performs arithmetic processing; a main CPU 11 which is mounted on a main CPU substrate 23, receives an arithmetic processing result of the measurement circuit 9, and creates transmission data; and a transmission CPU 10 which is mounted on a single-system transmission substrate 15 and transmits transmission data from the main CPU 11 to a transmission bus 14 via an interface 12. These circuit and CPUs are housed in a case 21. When a redundant-system transmission substrate 24 having a redundant-system function for the single-system transmission substrate 15 is additionally installed in the digital relay, the digital relay includes detection means 25 in which the main CPU 11 detects the additional installation of the redundant-system transmission substrate 24.
