A sliding side curtain (16) for truck and semi-trailer bodies has a bottom edge in the shape of a series of intersecting arcs (14). The points of intersection (apexes) (15) of adjoining arcs are the lowermost points of the side curtain and provide attachment points (apertures 19) for attaching the curtain to tensioning devices. Each tensioning device (25) has a hook member (24) that engages the rope (21) in the respective aperture (19) and applies a downward and slightly inward force to tension the curtain and hold it in the tensioned condition. The arcs (14) have a geometric centre substantially below the bottom edge of the curtain whereby the arcs are shallow arcs resulting in a small number of attachment points whilst achieving substantially uniform tensioning of the side curtain.
