<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact electromagnetic clutch that transmits high torque. <P>SOLUTION: When a core 2 and an armature 3 are engaged with each other, a polygonal side of the core 2 and a polygonal side of the armature 3 corresponding thereto are brought into contact with each other by using the core 2 having a bottomed polygonal cylindrical shape and the armature 3, so that high torque can be transmitted without enlarging the core 2 and the armature 3.
