<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can achieve cost reduction while reducing wires in a pixel and increasing the mass production yield. <P>SOLUTION: An image display device includes: a mechanical shutter part (26) provided for each of pixels arranged in matrix, moving in parallel to a transparent substrate (36) on the transparent substrate (36), and transmitting and blocking light; a pair of control electrodes (25 and 27) disposed with the mechanical shutter part interposed therebetween on the transparent substrate; a control electrode driving circuit applying alternately high voltage and low voltage to the pair of control electrodes at a predetermined timing for controlling the electrodes; and a shutter control circuit provided for each pixel and electrostatically controlling the operation of the mechanical shutter part by applying any of high voltage and low voltage set via a signal line at a timing according to the gradation value of each pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
