<p>A vacuum interrupter assembly comprises at least one vacuum interrupter (10). The or each vacuum interrupter (10) includes a vacuum-tight enclosure; first and second electrically conductive rods (26,28), each rod (26, 28) being connected in use to an electrical network (42, 44) at a first end; a first electrode (30) being mounted near or at a second end of the first rod (26); a slotted coil (38) being operably mounted at a second end of the second rod (28); and a second electrode (32) being mounted on an inner surface of the slotted coil (38). The first electrode (30) and the slotted coil (38) are located inside the vacuum- tight enclosure, and the rods (26,28) are positioned to locate at least a portion of the first electrode (30) inside the slotted coil (38).</p> |
