The invention relates to a vibration damper for a machine component which vibrates in the operating state thereof, wherein a damping mass arrangement is coupled to the machine component via a clearance and wherein the excitation of the damping mass arrangement in at least one vibration direction originates from a substantially shocklike interaction between the damping mass arrangement and the machine component. The invention leads to an increase in dampening efficiency due to the utilization of shock-like transfer of vibration energy. |
