<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substituted acetal compound and a production method using the compound. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing a substituted hydroxypropanone compound expressed by formula (3) is provided, using a substituted acetal compound expressed by formula (1) and a compound expressed by formula (2) as raw materials.
