Provided is a wet exhaust gas purification device that enables the simple removal of PM accumulated in a demister, enables the use of a low porosity, high collection efficiency demister, and exhibits high exhaust gas purification efficiency. The wet exhaust gas purification device uses a heating means for heating a demister (50, 51) to heat the demister (50, 51) to a temperature (60°C) at which the viscosity of PM that is accumulated in the demister (50, 51) and that contains an oil component reaches a low viscosity, or a temperature (above 600°C) at which said PM that contains an oil component self ignites. As a result, PM which has been softened into a liquid state by wash water (at a normal temperature or heated) and has begun to form drips can be washed away. Alternatively, after the PM has been burned away, any residue can be completely removed. Thus, the wash time and volume of wash water required for the removal of the PM are negligible. After the removal of PM, the demister (50, 51) can be re-used in a state that is almost as good as new.
