An illumination device has a light guide plate, a sheet section, and a frame. Optical sheets each have a protruding section. The sheet section has a plurality of fixing sections configured by one protruding section or a plurality of mutually overlapping protruding sections, and is fixed to the frame in the fixing sections by fixing members disposed on the opposite side to the light guide plate in the sheet section. There are fewer protruding sections configuring the fixing sections than the number of optical sheets configuring the sheet section.
