Composition (I) comprises (a) 0.1-15, preferably 3-5 wt.% of an amino component comprising lysine-lysine, lysine, ornithine, histidine, arginine-arginine-arginine or lysine esters of aliphatic alcohols; and (b) at least one carbonyl component comprising dihydroxyacetone, glutaraldehyde, pyruvic acid, glyoxylic acid, methylglyoxal, glyoxal, 2,3-butanedione, ethylene glycol, epicatechin, gallic acid, benzaldehyde, terephthaldialdehyde, acetoin, 3-ethyl-2-hydroxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one, 2,5-hexanedione or dimedone. An independent claim is included for a cosmetic treatment process comprising applying (I) on the hair and heating (I) at at least room temperature, preferably at least 40[deg] C.
