In a wireless communication system, a user equipment UE generates a message comprising a request to setup a device-to-device (D2D) bearer, an identifier of the destination user equipment and. information on the mobility management entity (MME) identifier of the destination user equipment. The message may also indicate that the bearer is for an existing application flow to the destination UE. The MME identifier (MMEI) may be a globally unique MME identifier (GUMMEI). The message is received by a network node such as a base station which then sets up the D2D communication. The base station may alternatively obtain the MMEI from network side entity. The base station may send to the MME of the destination UE a message to relocate the destination UE to the MME of the requesting UE. |
