The present invention is related to a method for the detection of a nucleic acid molecule comprising at least a strand comprising a sequence of nucleotides in a sample, whereby the method comprises the following steps: providing a sample containing the nucleic acid molecule; providing a capture probe, whereby the capture probe is at least partially complementary to a part of the nucleic acid molecule; allowing the capture probe to react with the nucleic acid molecule or a part thereof; and detecting whether or not the capture probe is hybridized to the nucleic acid molecule or part thereof.
