An image output device of the present invention acquires a panoramic image and depth information of a subject of the panoramic image, converts a predetermined region of the panoramic image to a stereo image, and outputs the stereo image. A disparity panoramic image generation unit generates a disparity panoramic image by shifting coordinates of each pixel of the panoramic image on the basis of the depth indicated by the depth information. A rendering unit projects the panoramic image and the disparity panoramic image on a stereoscopic model, converts a predetermined region of the projected image to a stereo image, and outputs the stereo image from an output unit. When a change of the viewpoint of the panoramic image is requested, a control unit functions so that an alternative stereo image is output from the output unit until a panoramic image viewed from a viewpoint after the change is acquired and converted to a stereo image. The alternative stereo image is similar to at least either the stereo image viewed from the viewpoint before the change or the stereo image viewed from the viewpoint after the change. A process for generating the alternative stereo image is faster than the process for acquiring the panoramic image viewed from the viewpoint after the change and converting the image to a stereo image.
