A navigation module (110) is formed for navigating the robot over the base surface during the processing operation on the basis of a map of the environment. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for autonomous processing of floor surfaces by a self-propelled robot; and (2) a mobile self-propelled robot for autonomous inspection of an environment or objects present in the environment.</p>
