<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display optimum information and to provide high operation comfort in an interactive operating device of a console for an automobile provided with a display device. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention includes a step of displaying graphical information on a display device, a step of receiving sensor information, and a step of activating an operation action when it is confirmed, using the sensor information, that a body part of a user is positioned within an activation range. The activation range is defined three-dimensionally in relation to a display area of an operation part on the display device, and the operation action is allocated to the operation part. At the time, user information is included in the received sensor information, the user information is evaluated at the point of time before activating the operation action in order to establish an operation intent for the at least one operation part, and information displayed on the display device is adapted in accordance with the established operation intent.
