<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage to strawberries when they are held by suction. <P>SOLUTION: A control section detects the direction and suction position of a strawberry from a strawberry image acquired by a pre-suction image acquiring section (steps S10 and S12). A cylindrical suction pipe having a contact section coming into contact with the strawberry at one end is moved through a moving section in such a way that the contact section approaches the suction position of the strawberry. Before the contact section comes into contact with the suction position of the strawberry, the operation of a negative pressure generating mechanism, which makes the inside of the suction pipe under a negative pressure, is started (step S18).
