Disclosed is an antibody or fragment thereof that specifically binds to a human RON protein to treat diseases such as cancer. The invention further relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the antibody and a method for inhibiting angiogenesis, tumor growth, proliferation of tumor cells by means of the antibody.
