<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately recognize a character string even if the character string includes a composite character. <P>SOLUTION: A character recognition device obtains data that shows a character string and identifies a character that satisfies a predetermined condition for discriminating a voiced sound symbol and a semi-voiced sound symbol from the character string shown by the obtained data. If the identified character is one of components of a composite character, the character recognition device moves the identified character so that the character comes close to a character to be another component of the composite character.
