The blank (1') has a brake disk provided with a plane upper surface section using a forming procedure for manufacturing a surface hardened component. Masses (M') of deformation are provided on a part of an upper surface (10') of the blank and subjected for provision of a fine-grained structure in respect to non-transformed material. The surface section is provided by the deformation and provided with the fine-grained structure for providing a hardened upper surface. The surface section engages a circular-shaped or ring-shaped surface, where the blank is made of metal or metal alloy. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing components by deformation of a component blank (2) a tool for forming a component blank (3) a device for forming a component blank.
