LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING PHOSPHOR

PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display using phosphor is provided to emit most of light to a frontal side of a panel wherein the light is excited and converted from a phosphor film, thereby drastically reducing optical loss. CONSTITUTION: A transparent substrate(203) transmits first shielding light emitted from a light source. A phosphor film(205) comprises phosphor. The phosphor film emits second shielding light. The second shielding light is excited by the first shielding light which is transmitted from the transparent substrate. The second shielding light is the same as or different from the wavelength of the first shielding light. A dichroic reflecting filter(204) is arranged between the transparent substrate and the phosphor film.
