PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of alkali cellulose is provided to effectively manufacture alkali cellulose with uniform alkali distribution by using a combination of two or more different pulps, thereby capable of effective manufacture cellulose ether with high transparence and high etherification ratio. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of alkali cellulose comprises a step of contacting two or more kinds of pulps(1) having different absorption rate of alkali metal hydroxide solution, and alkali metal hydroxide solution each other; and a step of deaerating the obtained mixture. The two or more kinds of pulp are a combination of pulps. The absorption rate of the alkali metal hydroxide solution is 4.0 times or less of the slowest pulp. The manufacturing method comprises a step of reacting alkali cellulose(3) with an etherifying agent. |
