<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for precisely adjusting a diameter of a beam spot on a photosensitive drum even if variation in a toner application amount occurs due to environment changes, conditions of an image forming apparatus, or other factors. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a photosensitive drum 11; a laser unit 13 for emitting a laser beam; lenses 109, 124 for imaging the laser beam on the photosensitive drum 11; a developing device 14 for developing an electrostatic latent image as a toner image; a control device for forming a predetermined image pattern on the photosensitive drum; a pattern detection device 60 for detecting the image pattern; a driving device 103 for moving the lenses along an optical path based on the detection result by the pattern detection device so that the diameter of a spot of the laser beam on the photosensitive drum becomes a predetermined diameter; and a temperature sensor 122. The control device controls the laser unit, when an amount of variation in temperature of the temperature sensor exceeds a predetermined range, to emit a laser beam to form the predetermined patter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
