The shoe (10) has a base plate (12) comprising a floor area (14) and a sliding surface (16), and a top plate (18) including a standing area (20) and another sliding surface (22). A wedge element (24) is arranged between the base plate and the top plate resting against the sliding surfaces. The wedge element comprises a screw jack (36), and two anchoring elements (54, 62) i.e. bolt, are screwed with the jack. The anchoring elements are provided in the base plate and the top plate such that rotation of the jack makes displacement of the wedge element relative to the top and the base plates. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an automatic leveling shoe.
