<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for hair treatment, giving sufficient tension and stiffness to the hair, high in shampoo resistance, and keeping effects. <P>SOLUTION: The composition comprises a copolymer obtained by solution copolymerization of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer component, in a hydrophilic solvent or a mixture solvent of water and a hydrophilic solvent, by using a radical polymerization initiator, The ethylenic unsaturated monomer component comprises at least (A) a cationic unsaturated monomer forming a molecular skeleton represented by general formula (I), and (B) an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and a monoalcohol comprising a 1-22C leaner, branched or alicyclic hydrocarbon.
