<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader with a two-dimensional image sensor configured to sequentially turn on light sources of R, G and B colors and read color image data with the same pixel, capable of shortening the reading time of the image data while maintaining high fidelity between the read image data and an object to be read. <P>SOLUTION: Image data is read by continuously implementing exposure and detection operations corresponding to R, B and B colors following a precharge operation during one-horizontal scanning period.
