<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element having a high luminous efficiency in which energy transfer from a host to a guest is good. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting element is provided, between a pair of electrodes, with at least a monomolecular layer composed of an emission center material having fluorescence, and a monomolecular layer composed of a host material having carrier (electron or hole) transportability and a band gap larger than that of the emission center material (the band gap indicates the differential energy between HOMO level and LUMO level).
