<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat pump type hot water supply device capable of keeping an operation sound at a predetermined level or lower without reducing a heating capacity. <P>SOLUTION: First control operation is performed by outputting a frequency command C25 instructing a set frequency and an opening degree command C27 instructing a set opening degree to a compressor 25 and an electric expansion valve 27 from an operation control means 50. The first control has features (a)-(c). Namely, the control has the following features: (a) switching can be performed between a normal mode for keeping an operating performance at a predetermined performance level or higher and a low operation sound mode giving priority to the lowering of the operation sound; (b) the set frequency of the compressor 25 is determined to become higher in the low operation sound mode than the normal mode; and (c) a set discharge temperature is set to become lower (set opening degree becomes larger) in the low operation sound mode than the normal mode.
