<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion conductive polyelectrolyte combining high IEC, high water resistance, and solvent resistance, and to provide a membrane electrode assembly using it, and a solid polymer fuel cell provided with them. <P>SOLUTION: The polyelectrolyte represented by a general formula (1) has a laminate structure where polymers each consisting of electron-donating units (donor: D) and electron-accepting units (acceptor: A) arranged alternately and linearly are superimposed alternately between principal chains to form a π stack. Either the electron-donating unit and/or the electron-accepting unit has an ion dissociative group.
