996,339. Circuit assemblies. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. April 9, 1965 [April 8, 1961], No. 13514/62. Heading H1R. In a process for making a unitary electrical sub-assembly suitable for mounting on a printed circuit board and comprising a plurality of components 20, the leads from the components are attached to adhesive strips 31, 32 of insulating material and are then interconnected by being welded or soldered to a number of conducting strips, as shown one strip 22 on one side of the components and two strips 24, 25 on the other side; the conducting strips and leads are severed where shown by crosses to produced a desired circuit, as shown a Wheatstone bridge. The process may be carried out on a mass production basis, the components for a single sub-assembly being shown between the broken lines. In a modification, the adhesive insulating strips are replaced by strips of thermoplastic material notched to receive the leads, a heated roller being passed over the strip to deform the material to grip the leads. In another modification, the conductive strips are replaced by conducting links which interconnect appropriate leads. |
