The device (1) has a drum (3) for accommodating laundry items and rotatably supported around a horizontal axle (A). A water container (5) is fixedly arranged in the device, and the drum is driven by a drive motor (12) for rotation around the rotation axle. The drive motor is arranged in such a manner that an axle of a drive shaft of the drive motor runs outside the rotation axle in displaced manner. The drive motor is coupled with the drum by a belt driving device (15) and arranged at a component device i.e. bearing bracket (10), which is fixedly connected with the drum.
