<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing a carbonic acid ester, capable of being performed by using carbon dioxide having less toxicity and corrosive property, and available by extremely inexpensively as a carbonylating agent and also using a solid catalyst easy for handling. <P>SOLUTION: This carbonic acid ester is obtained in a high yield by reacting an alcohol with carbon dioxide by using zirconium oxide having ≥20 m<SP>2</SP>/g BET surface area obtained by an adsorbed amount of nitrogen, as the catalyst in the presence of an organic or inorganic dehydration agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
