The testing device (1) has a testing unit (5) designed to electrically contact a photovoltaic module panel (2) for a test via contacts. The testing unit is designed as a retaining device that enables spatial manipulation of the panel. The testing unit comprises holding units e.g. clamping devices, for fixing the panel. The testing unit provides a mechanical interface to an industrial robot (3), where the industrial robot is formed for spatial manipulation of the panel. A contact pad of the testing unit contacts the panel. An independent claim is also included for a method for testing electrical properties of a photovoltaic module panel.
