A method for the in vitro prediction of hypersensitivity reactions such as allergic contact dermatitis caused by a test compound comprises i) obtaining T-cells and monocyte derived dendritic cells from a donor blood sample; ii), incubating the monocyte derived dendritic cells with a test compound; iii) exposing the T-cells to the dendritic cells; iv) incubating the T-cell/dendritic cell mixture with a skin biopsy sample obtained from the same donor and v) assessing histological changes to the skin biopsy. An assay comprising the T-cells, dendritic cells and skin biopsy is disclosed along with a kit comprising means and media for performing the method.
