<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the fail-safe control device of a hydraulic-driven variable valve mechanism, which is capable of detecting a decrease in sealing property of a hydraulic variable valve mechanism in an early stage and preliminarily preventing failure in an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The fail-safe control device of the hydraulic-driven variable valve mechanism 16 that hydraulically opens and closes a valve 12 acting as the intake valve or an exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine is characterized by disposing a displacement sensor 33 for detecting a valve lift amount of the valve on the valve 12, and detecting the decrease in the sealing property of the hydraulic-driven variable valve mechanism 16 from the valve lift amount output by the displacement sensor 33. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
