<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required for detecting a remaining amount of sheets, and also detect the remaining amount of the sheets without causing noise. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a placing plate for placing a plurality of sheets; a sheet feed roller for sending out the sheet; a lifting unit including a lift motor 16 in which a counter electromotive voltage changes according to the load as a drive source for moving the placing plate so that the sheet loaded on the placing plate may come into contact with the sheet feed roller; a voltage output unit 19 in which an output voltage changes according to the counter electromotive voltage of the lift motor 16; and a detection processing unit for detecting the remaining amount of the sheets placed on the placing plate, based on an output voltage value by recognizing the output voltage value of the voltage output unit 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
