摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a palladium-supporting catalyst which has excellent reduction ability and exhibits high conversion rate and preferably excellent selectivity if used in a hydrogenation reaction. <P>SOLUTION: The reduction catalyst comprises a conductive carbon and a palladium-gold ally that is supported by the carbon, wherein the alloying degree of the alloy is 50-100%. The reduction catalyst is useful as a catalyst for oxygen reduction or a catalyst for hydrogenation. The catalyst for oxygen reduction is useful as a cathode electrode catalyst for solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells.
