The application relates to methods and a system for analysing and securing mobile based transactions. A method and system for analysing mobile handset based transactions, such as money transfers, between sender handsets 30 and receiver handsets is disclosed. Locations of a sender handset and a receiver handset for each transaction is identified using mobile base station information, and a geographical distribution of mobile handset based transactions, based on the identified locations, is determined. Anomalies are identified by comparing the determined geographical distribution with an expected geographical distribution. A method of crediting a user handset account is disclosed, where outlet handset and user handset locations are compared and the credit request rejected if the locations are different. A method of validating a mobile transaction is disclosed, including capturing a photograph of a requesting user and comparing the photograph with a pre-stored photo of the user to validate the transaction. A method of building a user credit history is also disclosed, in which mobile transaction data is aggregated from a variety of different sources. |
