<p>The invention relates to a system for protecting motor vehicle drivers against the light of motor vehicles coming from the opposite direction during the nighttime circulation, which reduces stress and increases the comfort while driving during nighttime. According to the invention, the system comprises some linear polarizing optical filters which are mounted on the headlamps (3 and 7) of the two motor vehicles travelling in opposite direction, the filters having theαlinear polarization angles ( 5 and 15) of 45° oriented to the right in relation to the vertical, in order to fully reject the light of the headlamps of the motor vehicles coming from the opposite direction, or the filters may have other values of the polarization angles for preserving the light at a minimum level, which makes possible the detection of the position of the motor vehicle (11) coming from the opposite direction, each driver has a pair of glasses (6) with the same linear polarizing optical filter (16) or a windscreen (2) with linear polarizing optical filter, the polarization angle of the filter of the headlamps, glasses and windscreen will have the same valueα= 45° and the level of transparency of each filter will not impede the driver from clearly seeing the light of the own headlamps, so that, when a motor vehicle encounters an opposing motor vehicle, the linear polarization angle (4) formed between the two opposing filters is 2 Xα= 90°, in this case the level of the light received from the opposite direction is zero, in order to preserve a minimum of residual light which indicates the position of the other motor vehicle, the linear polarization angle is 2 Xα= 80°, i. e.α= 40°.</p> |
