PURPOSE: An engine idling control device and a control method thereof are provided to control the starter motor of an engine by sensing the location of a select lever and the operation state of a brake pedal. CONSTITUTION: An engine idling control device comprises one or more stop sensors(12,13,14), a first relay(31), a second relay(32), and a control unit(20). One or more stop sensors sense the stationary state of the vehicle. The first relay is installed in the power line for an engine connected between the engine and the battery. The second relay is installed in the power line for a starter motor connected between the starter motor and the battery of the engine. The control unit connects a position detecting sensor, the first relay, and the second relay and controls the first and the second relays.
