METHOD FOR PRODUCING COBALT (II) HYDROXIDE-IRON (III) HEXAGONAL PLATE-LIKE LAMELLAR CRYSTAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing cobalt (II) hydroxide-iron (III) hexagonal plate-like lamellar crystal wherein an iodine anion is intercalated.

SOLUTION: The cobalt (II) hydroxide-iron (II) hexagonal plate-like lamellar crystal is obtained by adding hexamethylene tetramine to an aqueous solution of cobalt chloride hexahydrate and ferrous chloride tetrahydrate and refluxing the obtained mixture in a nitrogen gas atmosphere. Then, a chloroform solution of iodine and water is reacted with the obtained crystal to intercalate an iodine anion in the obtained crystal.
