<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert made of WC based super hard alloy capable of obtaining a good finish surface, having a long lifetime and less likely to be abnormally damaged, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the cutting insert made of the WC based super hard alloy containing Co as a binder phase component, an hcp transformation rate of Co is ≥0.3, the surface roughness Ra is ≤0.2 μm, for a surface area of a chip breaker part in which wet blast treatment is applied to a sintered skin in a range from a crossing edge line between a flank surface and a honing part within at least 2 mm toward the inside of a rake surface, an hcp transformation rate of Co of a support contact surface of at least an inner surface of an mounting through-hole is less than 0.1, the surface roughness Ra is more than 0.2 μm, and the residual stress of a WC hard phase of an insert surface is ≥850 MPa in terms of compression. Accordingly, crack generation and development are prevented, and chipping resistance and finish surface accuracy of a material to be cut are improved even in cutting conditions such as wet cutting or intermittent cutting where thermal shock or mechanical shock acts on a cutting blade. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
