The base member carrier 2 for a bicycle can be clamped to a U-shaped frame 10 provided on the bicycle by a pair of opposite clamps 11, 21 for releasably engaging the respective arms 3 of the U-shaped frame and a toe grip 4 which releasably engages the top bend of the U-shaped frame. The clamps and the toe are connected to the base member which may form part of or be attachable to an item to be carried on the frame.
