<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively inhibit cracks from occurring from the circumferential groove of an outer ring made of steel in a rolling bearing. <P>SOLUTION: After subjecting the outer ring 11 to a heat treatment, a chemical polishing treatment is performed in the circumferential groove 11b of the outer ring. The thermal oxide layer formed in the circumferential groove 11b by the heat treatment is removed by the chemical polishing treatment. By removing the thermal oxide layer, which increases sensitivity to cracks, the occurrence of cracks originating from the circumferential groove 11b is inhibited. No sharp cost increase is incurred, because the chemical polishing treatment is all that has to be performed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
