PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal machine for machining a wheel set that can be used in various positions.

SOLUTION: A method and device for reshaping and re-machining a wheel disk (7) or a brake disk (23) of a railway wheel or a wheel set (6) rotatably mounted within a bearing housing (9) by a machine tool formed to be able to change positions. The wheel disk on the circumferential surface of the railroad wheel or wheel set is pressed against a supporting roller (16) by a clamping mechanism (14, 15) that acts on at least one bearing housing, and at least one of the supporting rollers rotates the railway wheel or wheel set and at the same time, a tool (20) machines one of the wheel disk and the brake disc.
