The invention relates to an apparatus which separates particulate materials by vibration. It comprises a porous part 405 forming part of a fluidizing bed 406 which lies over a diffusion chamber 403, this porous part being incorporated into the top plate 216 immediately next to the chute opening. Air is blown upwards through the porous part in order to break up the composite mixture in order for its separation.
